  • 1 ¾ cups water or chicken stock
  • ⅓ teaspoon black pepper

Notes

Make sure the chicken stays submerged in the gravy to prevent drying out during cooking., Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F for safety and tenderness., Mix gravy packets and liquid thoroughly before adding chicken for even flavor., If doubling or tripling the recipe, ensure slow cooker has enough capacity., Variations include using bone-in chicken (longer cooking time needed), swapping cream of chicken soup for mushroom or celery cream soup, adding cream cheese in last 30 minutes for extra creaminess, using bone broth instead of stock or water, or adding cayenne pepper or hot sauce for heat., Leftovers store in airtight container in fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for 1-2 months; reheat gently to avoid scorching gravy., Vegetables can be added at the start, such as diced potatoes, green beans, or carrots., For lower sodium, use low-sodium chicken stock, cream soup, and gravy mix., Chicken stock can be substituted with water, chicken bouillon, or vegetable stock.
